Here is one of my recent photos that just got selected by a juried panel for publication. This was taken in the Indian Ocean, Maldives. There was an amazing fish count in this cavern and the model struck the right pose at just the right moment.

Take the most famous photographers as well as many serious amateurs, select their best work and put it all in one place – there you have Onexposure. Every photo is screened, which means it has to be approved by an editor before being published. Onexposure is like a constantly evolving high class photo gallery with new art every day. Like in an arts gallery, you can buy many of the photos as prints and hang them on your wall. Onexposure was created because we missed an online collection of only high quality photos. The idea of Onexposure is to create a collection of some of the most beautiful photos in the world. They stand up for photography as an art. Onexposure is intended as an oasis of quality in a world of never ending commercial messages and constant noise of impressions, a place to rest your mind for a while. We want the collection to be a source of inspiration. Photo is about expressing yourself. The one general rule about photo is that every photograph you shoot is in fact a self-portrait. January Shutterbugs Photo Presentation

Shutterbugs meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month, N. 32^nd Street, Phoenix, AZ at 7:00pm. The Elks Lodge has a Wednesday night Steak Cookout starting at 5:30 pm and we are invited to join in. Cost: $9. Come early and join us before the meeting at 7 pm.. All members are encouraged to bring prints for display and up to 20 digital images for projecting. Images should be stored on a compact flashcard or other storage device and filed under the maker’s name. Images should JPEG and no larger than 1024 pixels wide and/or 768 pixels in height and sRGB for best color projection. Call Bob Buckles (602) 464-4765

The photos in this presentation were taken in Indonesia, primarily in a very remote dive resort called Wakatobi, and in Raja Ampat island archipelago aboard the Kararu. I spend the entire month of November 2009 exploring this bio-diverse region of the world. Photo Gallery.

George Childress wins 1st place awards in both wide angle and macro at the 8th Annual Digital Shootout in Bonaire

Over $10,000 in Prizes we offered for the best images taken at the Shootout! The judging is over, and the votes are in to determine the winners of the 2009 Digital Shootout. The judges were asked to rank the photo entries primarily on the question, “Would I want this image on my wall?” Thus artistic value ranked higher than uniqueness of subject and technical difficulty. George Childress wins International Layang Layang Underwater Photo Shootout 2008

The results are in from the 2008 Layang Layang Underwater Photo Shootout in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. The winners, whose photographs were judged by well-known underwater photographers Settimio Ciprianni, Stephen Wong, and Rod Klein, received prizes including trips to Palau, Truk, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, dive computers and watches, and Nikon and Sony dSLR’s and video cameras. Contestants were from 11 countries around the world, only one from the USA.
